Supakit // Animation

I had the pleasure of working with the founders of Supakit, a UK based cat collar company, to create an animated short to share the story of how their business began.

design

The client came to me with a vision in mind. They wanted the animation to have a playful, hand-drawn quality to capture the feeling of how their business began - making handmade collars with natural materials at home.

color palette

We landed on a simple palette based on some of the colors within the brand. Blue and off-white for most of the animation, and a warm rustic red to represent the Supakit collar.

I used a graphic style of illustration that allowed the cat to switch from dark to light as it moved through the animation. Even though the story is based on their own cat, Lola, the founders wanted other viewers to imagine their own experience in the story as well, so the less specific the cat, the better.
