AIRBNB Navigation Cards// Art Direction

I assisted as an art director on a large scale project - navigation cards that inspire people to explore new destinations on airbnb. The goal of the project was to implement a delightful, ownable illustration style that wouldn’t get lost amid photography elsewhere on the site. The result was a series of distinctive, post card-like illustrations that would be served up for every bookable city in the world. 

We worked with talented illustrator Jeannie Phan to produce almost 100 illustrations that brought life to the user experience. 

My role was to art direct a series of thematic illustrations that could represent a number of different cities and towns that shared similar geography. By finding visual connections through different towns and cities, we could use rich illustrations to represent more than one destination per illustration.

Airbnb Thank You Cards//creative

When the world and travel shut down due to the pandemic, the Illustration and Design team at Airbnb pulled together to rapidly create a campaign in response. The result was a series of uplifting cards that allowed travelers to connect with and encourage hosts during this challenging time. This was an all hands on deck project, and my role was to help iterate on ideas, sketches, designs and color options before the team landed on the final set that captured warmth, brightness, and a sense of humor.
